Worship at GUMC

Worship is an important part of what we do at Gainesville UMC - we offer multiple types of worship services and several opportunities to gather as a faith community and worship God. For all of our services, we invite you to come as you are - there is no dress code and all are always welcome at all of our services.

Children are also welcome and encouraged to be present in all of our worship times - but we do have children's programs available for those who would prefer that option - for more information, visit our Christian Education page.

The nursery is also available at all Sunday morning services.

Modern Worship - 9:30am

Our 9:30 worship service is a very casual and relaxed worship service that features our worship band leading worship with contemporary Christian music. You can expect an opening set of songs, followed by a relevant and biblical message from one of our pastors, a time of response to the message, prayers and a closing worship set. Grab a cup of coffee, find a seat and join us!

This service lasts an hour and Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month.

Traditional Worship -

8:00am & 11:00am

Our 8:00am and 11:00am services are more traditional in nature. The 11:00 service is the larger of our traditional worship service, and features traditional hymns and special music from our Chancel Choir. Our 8:00 service is a more intimate service, that carries into the present our rural church roots. It features the same traditional hymns as 11:00, but instead of our choir, special music is presented by a variety of soloists and small ensembles. Both services feature a relevant, biblical message from one of our pastors, and you can expect a service that is still comfortable and accessible, though a little bit more formal.

The 8:00 services typically lasts about 45-55 minutes, and the 11:00 service lasts an hour. Communion is offered on the first Sunday of each month at both services.

Come As You Are -

7:00pm Wednesdays

Our newest worship service, Come As You Are was launched in January of 2016 as another opportunity for our community to engage in worship. The service was designed as a casual, comfortable and accessible service, especially for those who cannot make Sunday mornings and for those who desire a mid-week spiritual refresher. The music at this service is led by our modern worship team, and it truly is come just as you are.

This service lasts 35 minutes and Communion is offered weekly.
