Summer Mission Weeks

An integral part of our youth ministry are the service projects we work on each summer both in our area as well as across the country. For nearly 20 years, we have sent out teams of youth and adults on various mission trips to help spread God's love to those who would need it most. From painting, yard work, and home repair to more socially-focused work, our youth been transformed and have transformed lives in the communities we've served. In 2019, our middle school students will travel to Winchester, VA to serve with The Jeremiah Project. Our high school students will be working with YouthWorks in Brooklyn, NY. If you're interested in being a part of our youth mission trips, please email our Youth Director, Bert Miller.

Gleaning

Each fall, we send teams to the Shenandoah Valley to help glean apples and other fruit/vegetables from the fields of local farms. Gleaning is an ancient practice that has its roots in Leviticus 23, where the Jewish community is commanded to leave a portion of the harvest in the fields for the poor. When we go gleaning we collect and bag the food and then donate the food to various shelters, ministries, and food banks. In the last two years alone, we have collected more than 3,000 pounds of apples. For more information, or to participate, contact Bert Miller or the church office.
