What & Why

The car show was started in 2013 as an outreach ministry from GUMC to help support the youth missions of GUMC and the Haymarket Regional Food Pantry. In 2017, with the Food Pantry moving to a new location, GUMC decided to dedicate 100% of both the food and cash donations that came in to the Pantry. In 2018, we added the chili cook-off to the day, as a way to bring in more people from the community, as well as raise more funds for the Pantry. To date, the car show has received more than 13,000 pounds of food and donated more than $6,000 to the Pantry. We thank you for your continued support of this great event!

About The Food Pantry

The Haymarket Regional Food Pantry (HRFP) is a multi-faith, community based ministry comprised entirely of volunteers dedicated to eliminating hunger by providing food to individuals and families in Haymarket, Gainesville, Bristow and the surrounding areas. We rely entirely on food and financial support from our donors, and are thankful for the tremendous support that we receive from caring individuals,  local churches, businesses and organizations, and our impressive team of volunteers.

The Pantry serves approximately 20,000 individuals throughout the year, providing 3-4 days of food per week to them. The pantry disburses more than 225,000 pounds of food per year, ranging from non-perishables, fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, breads, meats, and more.
